Properties: Monoclinic prismatic crystals from alc. mp 205-207°, (mp 206.5-207.2° purified). One gram dissolves in 53 parts of boiling water; much less sol in cold water. Very sol in alc and glacial acetic acid; sparingly sol in ether, carbon disulfide and benzene. Sublimes.
Melting point: mp 205-207°, (mp 206.5-207.2° purified)
Use: Identification of alcohols, alkyl halides; chromatographic determination of the essential oil constituents.
