Properties: C14H20O3, large glistening needles or plates from hexane, mp 123.5°. pK between 3.5 and 4.0. Optically inactive in alc. Slightly sol in hot water; sol in the usual organic solvents; freely sol in sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate solns.
Melting point: mp 123.5°
pKa: pK between 3.5 and 4.0
