Properties: Pale yellow needles from alcohol or xylene. mp 170°. Absorption spectrum: Clar, Ber. 65, 846 (1932). Solubility at 20° = 0.52 g in 100 g glacial acetic acid; 1.61 g in 100 g benzene; 2.05 g in 100 g chlorobenzene. Solution in H2SO4 is orange with green fluorescence. LD50 in albino rabbits: >3 g/kg dermally; LD50 in rats, mice (g/kg): 1.5, 0.29 i.p. (Singh).
