Literature References: Prepd by mixing 50 g phenylhydrazine with 37 g 90% acetic acid and 250 g water, then slowly adding a soln of 45 g potassium cyanate in 150 g water: Wildman, Ber. 26, 2613 (1893).
Properties: Leaflets from water, mp 172°. Very sol in hot water, alcohol, methanol, and acetone; difficultly sol in cold water, ether, benzene, ligroin.
Melting point: mp 172°
Therap-Cat: Antipyretic.
