Treatment of 8-Hydroxyquinoline (I) with K2CO3 at high pressure and temperature yields carboxylic acid (II) which is coupled to amine (III) in xylenes by means of PCl3. Alternatively EDC稨Cl and HOBt稨2O are used for the coupling of (II) with (III) for the obtention of the desired product.
