Sol in water [relative solubilities: Bennett, Philip, J. Chem. Soc. 1928, (1939)]. Miscible with alcohol, ether, many other organic solvents. Forms peroxides on exposure to air. All technical tetrahydropyran is stabilized against peroxide formation.
