Properties: Colorless, odorless crystals. Crystallizes from water with ½ and 1H2O. Becomes anhydr at 60°. Sublimes 110-120°. mp 158-160° with decompn (CO2 evolved). pK1 2.42; pK2 4.54, Grandjean, Bull. Soc. R. Sci. Liege 38, 288 (1969), C.A. 72, 42684t (1970). Very sol in water, alcohol; the anhydrous acid is sol in ether.
