Properties: Intensely yellow leaflets from alcohol, solvated needles from chloroform, dec ~189°. Insol in nitrates, water. Sol in alcohol, benzene, slightly sol acetone, chloroform, ethyl acetate; sparingly sol in ether. The alc soln undergoes partial decompn, indicated by a red color. Dipole moment in benzene: 7.2. pKa 10.34 ± 0.02
