Assay
Dissolve about 500 mg of Methadone Hydrochloride, accurately weighed, in a mixture of 10 mL of glacial acetic acid and 10 mL of mercuric acetate TS, warming slightly if necessary to effect solution. Cool the solution to room temperature, add 10 mL of dioxane, then add crystal violet TS, and titrate rapidly with 0.1 N perchloric acid VS. Perform a blank determination, and make any necessary correction. Each mL of 0.1 N perchloric acid is equivalent to 34.59 mg of C21H27NO·HCl.
