Nitric Acid, Cadmium- and Lead-free

Complies with the requirements prescribed for nitric acid and with the following additional test.

Test solution To 100 g add 0.1 g of anhydrous sodium carbonate and evaporate to dryness. Dissolve the residue in water heating slightly, and dilute to 50.0 mL with the same solvent.

Cadmium Maximum 0.1 ppm.

Atomic absorption spectrometry (2.2.23, Method II).

Source: cadmium hollow-cathode lamp.

Wavelength: 228.8 nm.

Atomisation device: air-acetylene or air-propane flame.

Lead Maximum 0.1 ppm.

Atomic absorption spectrometry (2.2.23, Method II).

Source: lead hollow-cathode lamp.

Wavelength: 283.3 nm or 217.0 nm.

Atomisation device: air-acetylene flame.
