Rutin Vitamin P; rutoside; 3-(O-6-Deoxy-α-l- mannopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-d-glucopyranosyloxy)-2-(3,4- dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-4H-chromen-4-one; 3,3′,4′,5,7-pentahydroxyflavone 3-rutinoside; C27H30O16,3H2O = 665 (153-18-4)

General reagent grade of commerce.

A yellow, crystalline powder, darkening in light, very slightly soluble in water, soluble in about 400 parts of boiling water, slightly soluble in alcohol, soluble in solutions of the alkali hydroxides and in ammonia.

Melting point, about 210°, with decomposition; a solution in ethanol (96%) exhibits absorption maxima at 259 nm and 362 nm, Appendix II B.
