Sulfanilamide 4-Aminobenzenesulfonamide, 4-aminobenzenesulphonamide, sulphanilamide; C6H8N2O2S = 172.2 (63-74-1)

White or almost white powder, slightly soluble in water, freely soluble in boiling water, in acetone, in dilute acids and in solutions of the alkali hydroxides, sparingly soluble in ethanol (96%) and in light petroleum.

Melting point, about 165°.
