Chloroform, Ethanol-free

Chloroform, Ethanol-free Shake 200  ml of chloroform with four 100-ml quantities of water and dry over 20  g of anhydrous sodium sulphate for 24 hours. Distil the filtrate over 10  g of anhydrous sodium sulphate and discard the first 20  ml of distillate.

Prepare immediately before use.
