General reagent grade of commerce.

A colourless liquid; bp2010_v4_02_03_appendix_i_1a_d d_20_20.png, about 0.91; bp2010_v4_02_03_appendix_i_1a_d n_20_d.png, about 1.425.

Complies with the following test.

Related substances Carry out the method for gas chromatography, Appendix III B, using 1  µl of a solution prepared in the following manner. Suspend 0.2  g of the reagent in 5  ml of water, add 3  ml of 2m hydrochloric acid and 5  ml of hexane, shake for 1 minute, allow the layers to separate and use the upper layer.

The chromatographic procedure described in the test for 2-Ethylhexanoic acid in the monograph for Amoxicillin Sodium may be used.

The sum of the areas of any secondary peaks is not greater than 2.5% of the area of the principal peak.
