Properties: Off-white powder containing 28-30% unchanged bound sulfate. Typical data: S 9.4%, Ca 0.2%, Na 7%, K 1.3%. [a]D +34°. Freely sol in water and acid. Aq soln less viscous than the aq soln of the parent carrageenan.
Optical Rotation: [a]D +34°
Therap-Cat: Antacid.
