Properties: Dark-brown lumps; white or nearly white when bleached. mp 80-86°. Saponification number 88-112. Insol in water. Sol in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, hot petr ether; incompletely sol in hot ether or boiling alcohol.
Melting point: mp 80-86°
Use: Electric cable insulators; in polishes instead of carnauba wax; manuf candles, waterproof paints and varnishes.
